Report of a Case of Tophaceous Gout with Renal Failure

Abstract
|

|
This report describes a 40 year old male patient of tophaceous gout with renal failure. Serum uric acid was found to be the range from 8.3 to 9.3mg/100m1. Multiple tophi were found on the both ears and about the metatarsophalangeal joints. of the great toes. Microscopic examination of the discharge from a tophus revealed characteristic urate crystals.
Probenecid was given to the patient for 3 months but no decrease in serum uric acid appeared. The patient eventually died of uremia.
